More Room for the Big Prototypes: The Feldherr PanoramaLiege for H0 Scale

Anyone into American-outline model railroading knows the problem: US boxcars, autoracks, and hi-cube cars are often noticeably wider and taller than their European counterparts — and simply don't fit into classic foam inserts with narrow, individual slots. That's exactly the gap the PanoramaLiege was designed to fill.
What makes the PanoramaLiege different
Instead of many tight individual compartments, the PanoramaLiege uses five long, continuous ridges that create wide, open shelves. This gives secure support even to models with unusual proportions — long 50- or 60-foot boxcars, bulky hi-cube cars, autoracks, or locomotives with prominent superstructures. A slight incline in each compartment creates the "panorama effect" the insert is named after: models stay visible and can be lifted out easily, without having to dig through the whole box.

The technical specs
- Insert (PanoramaLiege): approx. 560 × 360 × 45 mm, five compartments each roughly 560 mm long with about 58 mm of ridge width
- Material: fine-pore foam, chlorine- and acid-free, rotation-resistant, made in Germany
- Eurobox (interior): approx. 570 × 370 × 70 mm / exterior: approx. 600 × 400 × 75–90 mm, depending on the lid version
- Available with optional self-adhesive side padding (5 mm) for extra lateral protection
These dimensions leave enough room for most longer and wider H0 models — from classic boxcars to locomotives with prominent add-on details — while the foam reliably protects fragile details like ladders, grab irons, and lettering.
